Preparations for the 2011/2012 League One campaign have gone pretty smoothly, with new boss Danny Wilson yet to lose as Blades manager, as Hibernians were defeated by the South Yorkshire side on Wednesday evening.
Goals from Maltese international Daniel Bogdanovic and Irishman David McAllister ensured United's momentum gained so far in pre-season didn't come to an abrupt halt.
It wasn't all rosy for United though, who were being overseen by assistant manager Frank Barlow and player/coach Chris Morgan, after Danny Wilson returned to England for his daughter's graduation ceremony earlier this week. Negatively, defender Harry Maguire was shown a straight red card.
United took the lead in the opening few minutes through Daniel Bogdanovic, who clinically tucked the ball away after a neat through ball from Lee Williamson.
The Blades' evening was to be dampened, though, when Maguire was dismissed for a foul on Dos Santos in the penalty area. Santos brushed himself down and converted the following spot-kick.
Substitute David McAllister latched onto the end of Stephen Quinn's cross to give 10-man Sheffield United the lead once again.
New signing Chris Porter made a cameo appearance, but that was all. Seven changes were made in total at the Hibernians Ground by the Blades, but the likes of Jordan Slew, Matty Harriott and Erik Tonne were all rested. The full Blades team (including substitutions) is below:
Simonsen (Long 46), Lowton (Kozluk 46), Maguire, Collins, Jean-Francois, Williamson (Conneely 46), Doyle, Quinn (Porter 80), Flynn (McAllister 46), Bogdanovic (Kruk 46), Cresswell (Philliskirk 60).
The pre-season tour of Malta is now done and dusted, and two wins in two games in the Mediterranean isn't bad going!
The full-time score from the Hibernians Stadium is: Hibernians 1:2 Sheffield United.
