A comprehensive 3:0 victory over Millwall last night (Tuesday) ensured the Blades Academy booked their place in the Fifth Round of the FA Youth Cup, and it was confirmed that their opponents in the next round are Premier League Blackpool.
The Seasiders' Fourth Round clash with fellow Premier League outfit Birmingham City took place tonight at Bloomfield Road under the watchful eye of the United Academy boss John Pemberton.
A tight and cagey encounter finished 4:3 to the hosts in a game which saw a penalty and a late assault from Birmingham.
Blackpool were sailing at 4:1 but the visitors pulled back two goals late on to massively reduce the deficit, but the Tangerines held on for a 4:3 triumph and will travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday 29th January, however this date is subject to change.
United's first team are not in action on that weekend after dropping out of the FA Cup proper in the Third Round to Aston Villa.
