Managers around the country have criticised the batch of international fixtures which take place this week, which does disturb their preparations for the upcoming Cup games and the league ties at the weekend.
Sheffield United have a mass amount of unavailability’s for their Cup clash with League Two side, Port Vale, tonight. Ched Evans, David Cotterill and Kyle Walker are all on international duty, and Lee Hendrie and Jamie Ward are suspended. Goalkeepers Paddy Kenny and Mark Bunn are both inelegible to feature - Paddy's hearing incidentally will take place on the 18th August 2009. Ian Bennett will be between the sticks for tonight.
Gary Speed, Gary Naysmith and Lee Willamson have all got long-term injuries.
Blackie said: "Ideally I would have liked Darius Henderson to rest but circumstances realistically suggest that may not be possible.
"In the fixture last season I made about eight changes to keep everyone involved, and although with a decimated squad this time I won't be able to do that again, I will still make four or five."
As for Port Vale, goalie Joe Anyone will be absent, and likewise for Simon Richman.
