On Wednesday there were rumours that Danny Wilson had either being sacked or tendered his resignation following the 2-0 home defeat to Crawley Town the night before in which former Blade Billy Clarke and ex-Barnsley striker Paul Hayes supplied the goals in the must win match for United.
Mathematically United can still obtain an automatic spot but will need to conjure up positive results in the remaining games to come, starting with the Robins tomorrow at Bramall Lane.
Blades boss Chris Morgan is without striker Shaun Miller (circulate knee ligament); meanwhile keeper Mark Howard (thigh) and defender Lescinel Jean-Francois (knee) have returned to training but are unlikely to see first team action soon.
He is also without Diego DeGirolamo (knee) through injury, meanwhile defender Tony McMahon will has served both of his two match ban after picking up ten bookings for the season and will be available for selection to face the Town tomorrow.
Morgan told BBC Radio Sheffield; "It's been an absolute whirlwind, thing happen very quickly in football. I wouldn't be where I am without Danny Wilson and [assistant] Frank Barlow and I wouldn't have taken this position if I hadn't had their backing. I respect them as friends and to see them lose their jobs wasn't nice.
"It's going to be tough to get promoted but we're professional and we have to deal with the pressures of that. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and the one thing I wanted to do when I retired was become a manager. They're up there and they have the same ambitions as us. It's going to be a tough game because they've got a good squad."
Swindon Town, who lay sixth in the table and could leapfrog the Blades should they win this match have no fresh injury concerns, however they are without seven players due to injury; Troy Archibald-Henville, Jay McEverley (both knee), Miles Storey (hamstring), Nathan Thompson (ankle), Louis Thompson (shin), Tommy Miller (calf) and Aaron Oakley (foot) are all sidelined.
Blades-Mad Prediction: Sheffield United 1-0 Swindon Town
