Wilson was appointed manager of the MK club in December 2004 following the departure of Stuart Murdock and in there first season after changing there name from Wimbledon saved them from relegation in League One, but only by virtue of Wrexham receiving a ten point penalty. However he was unable to save the club from that same fate the following season and following relegation Mr. Wilson was relieved of his duties in May 2006.
Sheffield United carried on there fine run of form when a 2-0 win over Oldham Athletic last Saturday made it five victories in the last six matches and haven't conceded a opposition goal in the last five games. Goals from captain Michael Doyle (57 minutes) and striker Dave Kitson (86) made it a moment to remember for Danny Wilson who celebrated his 100th match in charge of the Blades on the same ground when he made his first, defender Harry Maguire also celebrated his 100th match in United colours.
Blades boss Danny Wilson is expected to name an unchanged side to face Milton Keynes Dons tomorrow, on-loan Southampton forward Jonathan Forte (groin) who has missed the previous three matches could return from injury whilst Dominic Poleon (on-loan from Leeds United) who made his first start against Leyton Orient will be hoping to retain his place in the squad with Jamie Murphy (groin) doubtful.
MK Dons hadn't won a league fixture since New Years Day, but they broke there duck and in the process did a 'favour' for Sheffield United last Tuesday night after goals from Izale McLeaod, Daniel Powell and Stephen Gleeson secured a 3-0 home win over top of the table Doncaster Rovers placed them tenth in the table and ten points away from top six with twelve games remaining.
They welcome back Dean Bowditch (groin) who started in that victory over Rovers whilst former Manchester United and Newcastle United striker Alan Smith has served all of his four match suspensions and will be made available to face face the Blades at Bramall Lane this weekend. Winger Ryan Harley (neck) is expected to miss out to injury.
Dons boss Karl Robinson is likely to field Izale McLeod against his former club; Izale Mcleod joined the Blades on loan between March 2004 to May 2004 from Derby County, he started just once as well as making six substitute appearances before returning to Pride Park. He later played for Milton Keynes Dons and a host of clubs before signing for Portsmouth (from Barnet) last summer he scored on his debut in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth and returned to MK in a permanent transfer last January.
:: Head-to-Head ::
Away from Bramall Lane the Blades have a very poor record against Milton Keynes Dons, winning only once. That win came in September 2003 at the Dons former National Hockey Stadium home, it was only a temporary stadium until the new Stadium:MK was built. United won 2-1 that day with goals from Ashley Ward and Paul Peschisolido, a result which then took the Blades to top of the Championship but sadly didn't end the season in that position.
Sheffield United never won at there previous grounds either, Plough Lane and Selhurst Park became a bogey ground for the S2 team and in consecutive visits their (March 1985 & December 1986) where on the wrong end of a 5-0 score-line. United haven't won at Stadium:MK in league matches either, but during Brian Robson's reign; in August 2007 Geoff Horsefield netted an extra-time winner to give United a 3-2 victory in the League Cup - it was his only goal in United colours in what turned out to be very few appearances.
However the Blades have a good record at Bramall Lane and haven't been beaten by our opponents in four matches. Earlier in the season United were defeated 1-0 at Stadium:MK - the defeat ended a run of 16 league matches unbeaten this season and a total of 24 competitive fixtures without defeat (penalty shoot-out defeats are marked as draws). But it was Mk Dons, whom ironically were the last team to beat United in a 90 minute match to end this great run of form, it came in the final minute of the match when a 'unlikely' penalty was awarded and Shaun Williams (90 minutes) dispatched without care.
