Like the Blades, Bradford City also saw their Boxing Day clash postponed after referee Trevor Kettle was unhappy with the state of the pitch against Burton Albion - leaving their 1-0 victory at Chesterfield as there last league action.
Bradford finally found a way past Tommy Lee as Tony McMahon gave the visitors a 1-0 win at managerless Chesterfield. Lee made a string of superb saves but was beaten by McMahon's second-half strike which lifts Bradford to eighth in SkyBet League One. Bradford started strongly and they went close in the 14th minute when Billy Clarke headed against a post and James Hanson was just wide two minutes later.
Kyle Reid had a 20-yard shot saved as Bradford dominated but Chesterfield went close in the 40th minute when Liam O'Neill shot just over from 15 yards. Lee saved Chesterfield twice in the 52nd minute by turning behind a Reid shot and then diving to his left to save Hanson's downward header. Lee made another great stop from Clarke but Bradford broke through in the 72nd minute when the striker went clear on the left and crossed for McMahon to score from 12 yards.
Including this victory at the Proact Stadium, the Bantams had won four of their previous six League One fixtures as well as one drawn and one loss. Tomorrow's meeting at Bramall Lane with be the Blades and the Bantams second meeting of the season having already drawn 2-2 at Valley Parade live on Sky after United found themselves coming from two goals behind.
Bantams boss Phil Parkinson could see him field four former Sheffield United stars; Billy Clarke, Kyel Reid, Tony McMahon and Steve Davies could all feature. However they will be without midfielder Josh Morris (knee) who will be out injured until after the New Year.
