The month of November started with terrible news; the injury sustained to Captain Chris Morgan was worse than first feared, with scans on his knee show crucial ligament damage which will sideline him until the remainder of the season.

On the field the Blades record a 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich Town; Tamas Priskin (6 minutes) puts the visitors ahead before Stephen Quinn’s strike (29) puts the Blades level – but Gareth McAuley’s (40) effort before half-time wins the game for Town as United are unlucky again!

The same day it’s a double defeat as the youngsters end a three match winning streak after losing 4-0 at Sunderland.

Four days later on from that disappointing defeat to Ipswich the Blades travel to the Walkers Stadium were an in form Leicester City looked destined to take all three points. However a stunning performance from United looked set to hand them all three points when Mark Yeates’ brace (29 & 41) cancelled out Paul Gallacher’s (8) opener to hand the visitors a 2-1 lead.

With moments left on the clock the win looked to be in United’s reach but a controversial penalty awarded against Yeates for suspected handball allows Steve Howard (90) to finish from 12 yards.

However, they don’t give up – and splendid performance is met by a super striker from on-loan midfielder Andy Reid (29); who’s only goal of the game is enough to ensure a 1-0 win at Millwall – this game also celebrated stand in skipper Nick Montgomery’s 350th appearance in a Blades shirt.

The academy also gets back to winning ways – Troy Pennycooke-Morgan’s strike seals a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at Shirecliffe.

Despite only drawing at Leicester, picking up four points looks to be a step forward for Gary Speed’s Blades were the win in London left them in nineteen place with a forthcoming fixture against Crystal Palace live on Sky just days away!
