Preview: Worksop Town vs. Sheffield United

The Blades drew their first pre-season friendly of the summer 1-1 against Sheffield FC; Danny Philliskirk netting United’s goal of the game.

The Blades will be without Darius Henderson (Millwall), Robert Kozluk (released), Ryan France (retired), Phil Roe and Kingsley James (both Port Vale) who have all left the club this summer.

However, defender Jean-Francois Lescinel (Swindon Town) and striker Danny Philliskirk (Chelsea) are new permanent editions to the squad with more possibly added before the match takes place tomorrow evening.

Expected Eleven: Simonsen, Lowton, Lascinel, Collins, Taylor, Cresswell, McAllister, Montgomery, Yeates, Evans, Bogdanovic

The Tigers have a number of former Sheffield United players who could feature against their former club; goalkeeper Adam Billard, midfielder Chris Bettney and striker Luke Beckett.

We’ve met before...

Sheffield United has never met Worksop Town in a competitive fixture before; however they have contested quite a few friendly matches over the years. The last came on Monday, 16 July 2007 when then United manager Bryan Robson secured a 2-0 victory.

Danny Webber (15) netted from the penalty spot and veteran defender Chris Lucketti (63) tapped home after turning home a Chris Armstrong corner; the Blades also featured trialist Silvo Spann (keeper), a Trinidad & Tobago international.
