Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson will take his Blades side to the field for the very first time as they travel to Sheffield FC for the first of their summer pre-season friendly line-up.
The Blades will be without Darius Henderson (Millwall), Robert Kozluk (released), Ryan France (retired), Phil Roe and Kingsley James (both Port Vale) who have all left the club this summer.
However, defender Jean-Francois Lescinel (Swindon Town) and striker Danny Philliskirk (Chelsea) are new permanent editions to the squad with more possibly added before the match takes place tomorrow afternoon.
Expected Eleven: Simonsen, Lowton, Lascinel, Collins, Taylor, Cresswell, McAllister, Montgomery, Yeates, Evans, Bogdanovic.
We’ve met before...
Sheffield United and Sheffield FC have never previously met in a professional competitive fixture but we raid the archives to look into a friendly fixture which took place at the Bright Finance Stadium; United narrowly winning 4-3 against their non-league counterparts.
In a rain soaked Dronfield the hosts twice led the match against a strong United side, they opened the scoring through Woolley (24) and towards the interval the Blades levelled through Jamie Ward (43). However the home side re-took the lead when Eagers (45) slotted home a penalty; 2-1.
After the break the visitors hit back and on stroke of the hour mark Billy Sharp (59) made it level for a second time. Four minutes later United gained advantage for the first time in the match; trialist Julian Gray side footed home.
Andrew Redmayre, a trialist from Australian side Central Coast Mariners was unable to stop a penalty when Roney (66) slotted home for 3-3. On 78 minutes Gray netted a brace when he headed home Nick Montgomery’s cross.
