Mason, 42 (Bolton) has yet to officiate a match involving Sheffield United so far this season - he has refereed a number of games involving the Blades, including the infamous 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League. However he hasn't taken charge of a Blades fixture since a 2-2 draw at Barnsley in November 2009 but during all these games has yet to issue a red card.
He made his Football League debut at Shrewsbury's Gay Meadow in August 2002 and during which he dismissed Exeter City's Santos Gaia and his younger brother Andy, is a former professional footballer with Bolton Wanderers.
Jake Collin and Simon Bennett, as assistants will accompany Mason whilst Neil Swarbrick, who officiated the Blades 1-0 win at Fulham will act as fourth official.
