The 22-year-old celebrates his 23rd birthday tomorrow (Tuesday) and came through the ranks at Premier League outfit Aston Villa. Ward, a doubt for this evenings encounter with Preston, dreams of playing in front of 90,000 spectators at the end of this month.
He said: "We've got to go out and give our all again, as we did at Preston, and hope it is good enough. I think we deserve promotion for all the hard work we've put in and although I haven't been here all season, the lads deserve a lot of credit.
"Wembley is definitely a motivation for me - we have to get there if we want to play in the Premier League. A lot of players don't get there but we have the chance. I dream of playing in the Prem, and I could by the time I am 23 - we will find out very shortly, hopefully on the 25th May.
Commenting on Friday's performance and result, the talisman said: "It could have been a win, but it was a good result. We have to forget the missed chances, the score is 1:1 and we have to start again. We overran them, particularly in the second half - I think it is the best we have played since I came here.
"1:1 is definitely a better result for us than it is for them because they come here with about 30,000 fans on their backs. We are confident every time that we play at Bramall Lane."
