He said: "I'm really looking forward to coming up against some of my old friends, and I still speak to a few of the lads. They'll do well this season, and they're always a good yardstick.
"They're always there or thereabouts. United have had one of the strongest squads in the league for a couple of years now. They've been yo-yoing up and down from the Championship to the Premiership, and are in a good position, financially wise.
"They're always hard to beat. even on bad days they'll grind out a point, or even three! It'll be a good test for us (Derby)."
