It’s been well commented that Sheffield United have been missing leaders at the front and back, with captain Chris Morgan wounded in action and target man Darius Henderson who hasn’t kicked a ball in anger yet this season.
The former Reading and Watford forward was unfortunate to receive a blowing hamstring last summer which has seen him miss the entire 2010/11 Championship campaign.
However there have been unconfirmed reports suggesting that ‘Big D’ could return to the squad at Vicarage Road after being in full training since around Christmas time.
Should his inclusion in the Blades squad be true then it would be a welcome return for a missing striker who we hope can quickly rediscover the form which led him to scoring 11 goals last season which included a hat-trick at Bristol City in a dramatic 3-2 victory.
Including a trip to Vicarage Road the Blades have a further ten games in which to save our season; that’s 30 points left to play for with the gap between ourselves and Crystal Palace is currently six points although further teams (Middlesbrough, Derby County and Coventry City) may be sucked in to the relegation dog fight over the next few weeks.
During these ten fixtures United have tough games to play at QPR, Leeds United and Cardiff City along with an important six pointer at Preston North End and our final home fixture against Barnsley could also prove to be crucial.
The Eagles face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road this weekend, whilst Scunthorpe United host Leicester City, Middlesbrough travel to Portsmouth and Derby County host Swansea City.
