Head-2-Head: Japan vs. England

Last updated : 01 May 2010 By @blades_mad1889

England and Japan have never met in a completive fixture; however during their formations the two nations have met each other previously in two friendlies.

The first took place at the old Wembley Stadium in June 1995 where the Three Lions came out 2-1 winners.; relying on a David Platt penalty with just three minutes remaining - Darren Anderton had handed the home side the lead,

In June 2004 the nations met once again in a friendly at Eastlands (Manchester City); Michael Owen scored in a 1-1 draw. The friendly which takes in Austria will be the first time the two sides have met outside the United Kingdom.
