The club was in turmoil following last season's disappointment of relegation, but now, only Huddersfield Town stand in the way of Championship football for the Blades next season.
A campaign which saw the most goals scored by any Blades striker for quite some time, a campaign which saw United score more goals than any other team in the Football League, and a campaign which included TWO 5:2 away wins towards the back end, leaves everything hanging in the balance.
The task to get by a stern Stevenage side is accomplished, but there is that one final hurdle to get over for Danny Wilson and his troops, with United's fate being decided this Saturday.
Wilson reflects on what has been a great turnaround from devastation of last season. He said:
"It is not often that you get the opportunity to manage a team like this and it is a privilege. If we did go up it would be a fantastic achievement - the players have showed a great determination all season.
"There was a lot of disappointment in pre-season but we have turned that around and made the fans proud again. I hope we win on Saturday because that would be a great reward for everyone.
"Saturday will be a collective effort, players, management, fans, everyone and I'm looking forward to getting on with it.
"They (Stevenage) are a very good side, stubborn and major threats in different areas - we couldn't have had a harder semi-final and that sets us up nicely for Saturday's game."
