Both picked up knocks from the clash with Sheffield Wednesday a week ago which could give United problems if neither are fit enough in time. The club has confirmed that they will both be given every chance to recover and Kevin Blackwell will make a decision on Saturday morning.
The influential and highly regarded Jamie Ward is out till mid-October, and Matt Kilgallon will sit out the tie too with a chest infection, although he begun training late this week. Andrew Davies, the Blades' loan recruitment from Stoke City is expected to deputise.
Welshmen Ched Evans and David Cotterill will no doubt be hoping to triumph in their own country to lift the Blades up the Coca-Cola Championship. The latter will want to make the most of his opportunity on the right-wing with the absence of Jamie Ward.
