It's almost here Blades fans! The eagerly anticipated return of competitive football is under 24 hours away!
United enter the game with new signing Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on their books, with boss Danny Wilson trying to build the strongest possible squad to give the Blades as good a chance as possible.
Wilson wants his team to travel across the Pennines in a positive frame of mind, knowing that a win would be the ideal start to his tenure. He said: "This is an important fixture, everyone gets a lift from winning the first game. Oldham is a good test, one of the sternest we could have, but we will go there and be positive.
"Oldham are established in League One and play in a way that will make it difficult for us but the travelling contingent we are taking is a big advantage.
"I'm sure the fans will be brilliant for us - I'm expecting the noise and atmosphere to be amazing. It will be nice to give them something to come home with.
"It is a great opportunity - a new start - for everyone. We've got strikers who can score goals and I hope we can take our chances when they arise."
