The skipper has made over 200 appearances for the red and white wizards, and his talent is oozing out of him each year. Being with the Blades for such a long amount of time, the 31-year-old knows how much it means for the Bramall Lane outfit to be a top flight club, and is determined to repeat the feat.
He said: "We are ready and raring to go. You can tell in training that we are nearly there, the lads are buzzing and can't wait. It's a massive game but we are trying to to treat it like any other fixture, which is hard because every time you pick up a newspaper or listen to the radio it is there.
"It is easy to get caught up in the build up but you have to stay focused.
"I will feel immensely proud to lead out United. It's a fantastic club and we have a great camaraderie. Ever since I've been her the spirit has always been the same and I think it comes from within - the characters, not just the players but the groundstaff and the people in the offices.
"All the lads that come here always find it easy to settle and that's why it's such a great club but on top of that we have got some good players and we'll be looking to show that on Monday."
