Blades Set For Fiery Yorkshire Derby

Stuart McCall - now in charge at Bradford City, he represented both Sheffield United and the Bantams as a player.

Since the relegation axe fell upon them in 2001, ending their two year stint as a Premier League club and dubbing them amongst those who fell victim to the infamous 'second season syndrome,' the Bantams supporters have experienced mixed fortunes. They are one of only a few clubs to have played in all four Divisions during this time period, and as a League Two side experience some giant-killing en-route to the League Cup Final only to lose 5-0 to Swansea City. Their 4-2 FA Cup win at Chelsea is also won worth mentioning.

They won promotion to League One in 2013 with the Blades and the Bantams experiencing six league meetings which has resulted in two victories to United and three draws. City's 2-0 victory came in the brief David Weir reign.

The West Yorkshire side pleasant times with Phil Parkinson up until his departure for Bolton Wanderers this summer. They now have new leader in former player Stuart McCall who has returned to England following a managerial spell north of the Boarder and has been quick to bring home the results at such an early stage of the season.

Only time will tell if either club will be amongst the promotional places come May but McCall has assembled a side which on paper looks worthy of promotion already. Seven new players were drafted in, including former Blades Nicky Law and Matt Kilgallon to replace the seven which left. Romain Vincelot was perhaps the prize capture, the midfielder joined from Coventry City, and keeper Colin Doyle who joined for just £1 from Blackpool.

In addition to Law and Killa, the Bantams also have Billy Clarke, who has 4 league goals to his name as well as Tony McMahon and Marc McNulty (on loan from the Blades) - though the latter two are likely to be absent from this weekend's crunch match. They have also brought in former Rotherham striker Haris Vuckic on-loan from Newcastle United, the striker netted whilst on loan in the Blades 3-3 draw at Wigan last season.

Neutrals have dubbed this as 'The Biggest Game in League One.' Whilst this match is important to both sides, and perhaps to other sides surrounding the top six, but at an early stage of the season a negative result wouldn't prove too costly.

Stuart McCall told Bradford newspaper the Telegraph & Argus; "I had five fantastic years at Sheffield United and have got a lot of respect for people there. I had a great relationship with the supporters. They've found a good system; they've got goal-scorers in the side and are playing with confidence. People were saying six weeks ago that they were struggling but once Chris got his ideas down, you look at the squad and a lot of them have been Championship players. For me, being a bit biased, it's the biggest game in this league because of the rivalry and the size of the clubs."
