Morgan was involved in an incident with Barnsley striker Iain Hume last season, a year ago tomorrow (Sunday). Hume suffered a fractured skull when he clashed with Morgan who is Barnsley born and bred.
Morgs made just under 200 appearances for the Tykes before joining the Blades. He scored the only goal of the game in Monday night's game against Newcastle, but at the wrong end! Referee K Friend handed him his fifth booking of the season.
Barnsley fans are less than impressed that Morgan, 32-years-old on Monday the 9th November, the night United play Barnsley, incidentally, picked up a fifth yellow card of the season which prohibits him from featuring in this Monday's fiery derby.
Kevin Blackwell, Morgan's gaffer, said: "That is rubbish. If he was why would he do that so early in the game and then have to walk a tightrope for the rest of the game.
"There was always going to be talk ahead of this fixture but it is a totally new game and a new set of different circumstances.
"Apart from that, he learnt his trade at Barnsley, started his career there and has a high regard for that club. And he is our captain so he will be a big loss."
