The Lilywhites' match with Barnsley was cancelled due to weather conditions, therefore they should be the freshest in an encounter which was played four times last season! The Blades didn't lose any of them either; 1:0 Blades, 0:0, 1:1 and 1:0 Blades - the latter two being in the play-offs of course, where the Red and White Wizards beat the Lancashire side 2:1 on aggregate to reach Wembley.
Speaking on today's opponents, and one of their loanees Michael Tonge, who spent seven years with the Blades, Kevin Blackwell is wary of their quality within the team.
He said: "Like ourselves they started pretty well before going through a bad spell when they only won once in about ten or eleven matches. They had a good season last time and I am sure that Alan Irvine would have expected to carry that on.
"Losing Mawene to injury was a blow because he is a big player for them, but I would think that Paul McKenna going to Forest was another because he looks like the one they can't do without.
"But they have resigned Andy Lonergan and have still got good players with the likes of Brown, Parkin and Wallace.
"You cannot write off any Alan Irvine squad but with our crowd right behind us they won't fancy coming to Bramall Lane."
Speaking on Michael Tonge, Blackwell said: "It will be terrific to see Tongey again but I hope that he doesn't do very well against us.
"I have massive respect for the contribution Michael made for this club. I didn't want him to go late on that transfer deadline day and it probably hasn't quite worked out for him at Stoke.
"He is a player I have considered trying to get back here because he would fit straight in but we have had too many loans already."
