Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson is searching for a new keeper after allowing Steve Simonsen to leave Bramall Lane following the end of his contract and whilst he still has Mark Howard and George Long in reserve the former Barnsley and Wednesday manager will attempt to introduce a new number one for next seasons League One title race.
Penris, 27 is out of contract this summer and will be available on a free transfer; “My preferred option is to play in England now. I have great memories from my time at Dundee but I want a shot at one of the top English leagues now.”
However with Championship duo Bolton Wanderers and Cardiff City; both of whom will be chasing promotion to the top flight themselves next season will no doubt be in front of the queue for the Slovakian shot stopper. He is also wanted by Turkish duo Trabzonspor and Genclerbirligi but a move to England looks likely.
A move elsewhere will force Mr. Wilson to look elsewhere and talk suggesting that either Tommy Lee (Chesterfield) or former Manchester United and recently Cardiff City keeper Tom Heaton (Unattached) will prove a more realistic target.
