Sheffield United’s former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday striker Leon Clarke has been linked with a move to Hull City.
Clarke, 33 signed an extended deal with the Blades last November amid rumours of a departure to Aston Villa when the Transfer Window re-opened in January. He ended the season with 19 goals and was named among the PFA Championship Team of the Season XI as voted for by fellow professionals.
We are not clear if there are any strong rumours suggesting that the forward is on his way out of Bramall Lane. However posts on a number of unofficial Sheffield United Message Boards (such as BladesMad) do suggest that Hull City could table a £5,000,000 bid.
Following the departures of Caolan Lavery, James Hanson, Clayton Donaldson (whom is wanted by Bolton Wanderers) and James Wilson’s return to Manchester United, following the end of his loan spell, United are left with just three recongised strikers with Billy Sharp and Ched Evans left to chose from.
Should these rumours be true and Clarke is to make an exit to the KCOM, then Blades boss Chris Wilder will need to act in bringing in a replacement.
