Doyle, 29 is set to complete a move to the Lane within the next 24 hours according to local tabloids with Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd saying he wouldn’t stand in his way if a move was to come about.
He said “If there is something in it then we’ll have to discuss it.
“I’ve got a lot of time for Michael, who has been terrific for us, but I’ve got Aron Gunnarsson, Lee Carsley and Sammy Clingan and young players like Conor Thomas coming through.
In February 2007 he was rumoured to be subject to a £500,000 move to Bramall Lane after falling out of favour with then manager Iain Dowie.
