Blades boss Neil Warnock has been forced to hunt for a new striker since the news emerged that Lane favourite Andy Gray is likely to be sold to Premiership new boys Sunderland in a seven figure sum.
It is believed that a £750,000 has been turned down by the Deepdale club for Creswell but United are expected to extend that fee to just over £1,000,000 to land the former York City and Sheffield Wednesday striker.
However Mr. Warnock could do a complete U-turn and go straight for Middlesbrough striker Joseph-Desire Job who is rumoured to be looking for a way out of the Riverside after falling to fourth choice striker.
It is likely that the Blades will chase only one of these strikers and that it is likely to be Cresswell.
