Trommel is the second Dutchman to be linked with United following the rumoured transfer of Stefan Jansen fromDen Bosch last week.
Trommel, who is valued at £130,000 and reported earns £1,900 per week at Rotterdam will be out of contract on 1st July 2004. Though it is believed a Belgium side KC Mechelen has shown an interest in the 22 year old full-back.
He can, apparently speak three different languages, these being Dutch, English and German. Last season Sparta finished third in Eerstedivisie League, just five points behind league champions Den Bosch.
