Dyer, who turned 18 just a few days ago has made only a few starts for the Saints, making his debut in the 3-0 away victory at Southend United in the League Cup in which he found his first goal.
He played in the 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra and the 1-0 away defeat to Mansfield Town (League Cup) before joining Burnley on loan.
His Clarets debut came on 1 November as they beat Millwall 2-1, Dyer again netting a debut goal. A defeat at Leeds followed (3-0) whilst he scored once in the 3-0 home victory against Crewe, but didn't feature in yesterday's fixture.
This was because Burnley travelled to Southampton were they recorded a 1-1 draw, in temporary charge of the Saints was former Blades manager Dave Bassett with Dennis Wise as number two.
Sources from Burnley FC suggest United are interested in the striker, how much of this is true remains to be seen but we can only hold on and wait till January when the transfer window re-opens.
Meanwhile we'll see how good he is next week, Burnley travel to Bramall Lane next Saturday.
