de Guzman, 25 who can play as a Defender-Midfielder is keen to leave the Spanish club after falling down the pecking order since he was captured in 2005 by Deportivo La Caruna from Hanover 96 (Germany).
He failed to hold down a regular place despite impressing in his first season.
"I need to play and the only solution [to this problem] is to leave," he has been quoted as saying.
"I do not understand why last season I played in 24 matches and now I have been given zero minutes.
"It is logical that I be sold in January. I am convinced that I shall accept the chance to move."
De Guzman added: "English football is passionate and it is wonderful for any player to play there."
Born in Toronto de Guzman started his playing career with the Olympique Marseille youth team in France before joining in 2000 FC Saabrucken until he moved to Hanover in 2002. In all he has made 121 domestic appearances (scored 3 goals) whilst representing Canada 15 times since 2002.
Just out of interest; his younger brother Jonathan is currently playing in Holland with Feyenoord Rotterdam.
