TheBarnsleyborn striker, nicknamed ‘The Beast’ joined Championship side CardiffCity in January 2011 for an unreported fee of £100,000.
He had played a centaury of games for Preston North End (scoring 28) and missed just three fixtures (one against the Blades) in City’s remaining games towards the close of the season as they failed to win promotion to the Premier League via the play-off spot which was ironically claimed by their bitter rivals Swansea City.
Such failure will spark eagerness to make next season a success by investing heavily in the squad and in turn push Parkin out of the frame for a starting role despite only being at the Cardiff City Stadium club for six months.
Parkin listsBarnsley,YorkCity,MacclesfieldTown,HullCity,StokeCityand Preston North End whilst he has also represented Hartlepool United in a short loan period.
