Halford has been a long term target for Sheffield United with Colchester turning down an offer during the last transfer window. It is believed that a £2,500,000 bid has been put in and Halford is anxious to learn the result, he is keen on leaving Layer Road.
The U's Defender told Sunday Mirror; "It's getting closer to the end of my contract and I am keen to get away," Halford, who is out of contract at the end of the current season. It is all making me a bit anxious.
"There have been a few concrete bids from three or four different Premiership clubs already, but nothing has been accepted, which is a bit frustrating for me. Each of the offers was for quite a bit of money.
“Obviously Colchester are looking for a bit more. I'm not sure what that magic number is yet. I understand why Colchester do it - they want to keep me until the end of the season and try to get into a play-off position.
"But they know I won't be signing a new contract in the summer and I'll be sold for a fraction of what they could get now. There is still quite a lot of time left in January, so I'll keep hoping."
Meanwhile Sheffield United are keen on Aston Villa Midfielder Lee Hendrie who has just returned from a loan spell at Stoke City, it is unclear what sort of bid will be put in for him.
