Arguably fans' favourites, Montgomery and Ward have both confirmed that they are eyeing returns to action on the 21st November, although the latter does have a slight chance of being ready for the Blades' clash at Barnsley in just over a week's time.
Montgomery said: "The knee is progressing well. I am desperate to get back playing but I can't rush it and risk it happening again.
"It is disappointing to miss games at the minute but there is a two-week international break coming up and I am looking towards the Peterborough game."
Ward, 23, was a special guest on Sky Sports' Football League Weekend programme on Friday evening. He declared that he hopes to return to the fray in time for the clash against Peterborough also.
Meanwhile, Gary Naysmith, who limped out of action in the 1:0 defeat at Burnley at the back end of last season, has said that he hopes to be back in around a month's time. The Scotsman will be playing in United's next reserve game, he confirmed.
