Windass has made just 16 league starts for Middlesbrough since ex-Boro boss Bryan Robson snapped him up from Bradford for £600,000 in March 2001. He has been courted by several teams this season, including his hometown club Hull, but insists that joining Neil Warnock's side was too good an offer to turn down.
"I had the choice of a couple of clubs, but I spoke to the manager on the phone and he convinced me," said Windass. "He was very positive and I hope this can be successful.
"I've played against Neil's sides a few times in my career and the style of play suits me down to the ground."
