The Blades currently lay fifth in the league table – four points clear of seventh spot Tranmere Rovers who themselves have slipped down the table owing to a bad run. United have won just once at home in 2013 and following the two goal loss at home to Crawley Town on Tuesday night it was decided that enough was enough and Wilson is left looking for another managerial position.
With his Assistant, former Blades player Frank Barlow also departure it leaves U-21 coach Morgan to take temporary change until the seasons end and will start this Saturday at home to Swindon Town. United have remaining home games against; Brentford and Preston North End and away fixtures at Crewe Alexandra and Portsmouth to attempt to win enough points to launch themselves into the automatic spots.
In a statement on the club's website; sufc.co.uk - Blades owner Kevin McCabe said: "We must thank Danny and Frank for all their endeavours and hard work over the past two seasons.
"We now have a mini season for this club to achieve success and we will all back Chris in this mission."
