Sheffield United recorded their first clean sheet under on-loan Stoke City Steve Simonsen as the shot stopper was only troubled once by a Hugo Colace free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
At the other end Tykes keeper Luke Steele kept the Reds in the game after two saves from Darius Henderson headers whilst he also denied Nick Montgomery and Glen Little wasted his chance from close range.

However the result has left the Cutlers tenth in the Championship and six points away from sixth place Leicester City with five games remaining.
But Blades assistant Sam Ellis struck a defiant chord afterwards, saying: "We never give up. We're not quitters.
"That's not the way we do things here and it never will be. The lads are disappointed; of course they are, because I thought that we were always in control of the game. But we just couldn't get the breakthrough we needed.
"That's the way it goes at times but I thought the determination the boys showed was excellent. I can't criticise them for that even though we created more than enough chances to have taken much much more."
In the visitors' dugout it told a different tale and Reds boss Mark Robins was satisfied with his clubs point earned at Bramall Lane yesterday; "I'm delighted with the point.
"You could see our legs were going a bit at the end but we battled really hard and dug in when we had to. We've not been great away from home lately and so that showed real character and spirit.
"It's always good to get something on the road but especially when you come to one of the Championship's bigger clubs."
