O'Leary was at the City Ground last week to watch Jagielka in action in the defeat against Forest, and is thought to be lining up a move when the transfer window reopens in January. After releasing Steve Staunton Villa are short of cover for Ronny Johnson and Olaf Mjelberg.
Jagielka, perhaps United's hotest young prospect, has scored twice in only a handful of appearances for England U-21s, and was made captain by Neil Warnock on Saturday.
