The Mediterranean island welcomed United as visitors last year when Kevin Blackwell's men made the flight to Malta. Identical to 2009, the Blades will take in the sights and surroundings of the beautiful island on their four-night stay. The squad and officials are scheduled to fly out to Valletta on Monday 12th July 2010 and make the return journey on Saturday 17th July 2010.
Birkirkara FC, the champions of the Maltese Premier League last term, will be involved in the 45-minute round-robin matches. Also planned to be involved at Hibernians' stadium are Vittoriosa Stars FC, a top-flight outfit in Malta also.
Mike Farnan, Group Executive Director at United, said: "The tour will provide an excellent experience for the players and our supporters. Thanks to our special relationship with the Malta Tourism Authority this will prove one of the most eventful tours Sheffield United have ever staged.
"We will be hosting a number of supporter activities during the week, with the triangular tournament acting as the perfect finale for the Blades visit to Malta."
Daniel Bogdanovic, the Blades' summer recruitment from Barnsley, will be at the forefront of attention on the trip. The 30-year-old is, of course, a striker at international level for the Maltese.
The Bramall Lane outfit aren't only pitting their wits against foreign opposition this summer. Mansfield, Burton, Rotherham and Notts County are all stern opponents who will be hosting the Blades at their respective grounds across July.
