He ends his three year spell at the Seadogs to take over the charge of the Blundell Park club after Nicky Law failed in there bid to survive relegation from Division Two.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "It's fair to say I am in the frame for the job.
"I was approached by Grimsby Town who asked if I would be interested in going down for an interview.
"It is more a case of being lured away than looking to leave Scarborough."
