Morgan, 29 has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association after allegedly striking Arsenal forward Robin van Persie; which was out of sight of referee Lee Mason; who in turn didn't report the incident.
Sheffield United won the match 1-0 after Christian Nadé turned his marker on 41 minutes to fire past Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann.
The Blades captain has until 6:00pm on Thursday to respond to the charge, it is expected he will appeal against the ruling that could see him miss three matches if the appeal is overturned.
Morgan has already picked up five yellow cards this season and will miss this Saturday's FA Cup tie with Swansea City at Bramall Lane, a further ban could result in a total of four matches.
Should his appeal result by unsuccessful then the skipper will miss Premier League encounters against Portsmouth, Reading and either a fourth round FA Cup tie or the League match against Fulham.
