Reports claim that Sheffield United have signed Shelton, 21 from the Swedish club and will train with the first team on Tuesday.
The Jamaican international has been a target for Neil Warnock for some time but some fears of signing the striker were lost when Burnley were turned down the chance last season after he was refused a work permit.
"We will replace Shelton eventually but we're looking for a similar player so we will take our time," commented chairman Bosse Nilsson to Expressen.
"It was a good deal for everybody involved."
