Sheffield United have extended the contracts of Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka until 2021, despite the duo making just 12 appearances between last season.
38-year-old Jagielka made his name at the Blades earlier in his career and returned to the club in the summer after the expiry of his Everton contract. He has been a bit-part player so far, struggling to establish himself in one of the Premier League's meanest defences in 2019/20.
Rodwell, meanwhile, earned himself a short-term deal in January after leaving Blackburn Rovers. He made just two appearances for Chris Wilder's side, and a prolonged stay looked highly unlikely, but the club have nonetheless announced an extension to the 29-year-old's deal.
Wilder told the club website: "Phil is a valuable and respected member of the squad and I'm delighted to keep him in the building for next season.
"The same applies with Jack, who offered us versatility and gave us options within the group during the second-half of last term."
