Sadly of course, the players don't actually receive an award (or Trophy) but do get accreditation for their efforts.
Player of the Month: In each of match reports we have given a chosen player our man of the match and overall Carl Asaba has notched up the most MOTM votes.
Asaba has been given Man of the Match against Coventry City, Norwich City (Shared with Paddy Kenny) and Rotherham United.
Voting was close as their was only 1 vote in it as Paddy Kenny (Portsmouth and Norwich), Jon-Paul McGovern (Walsall and York) and Wayne Allison (Grimsby and Watford) was voted twice.
Other players who only got one vote was Iffy Onoura (Burnley), Michael Tonge (Millwall), Stuart McCall (Sheffield Wednesday) and Phil Jagielka (Gillingham).
Goal of the Month: In the two months of August and September United have managed 17 goals in League and Cup which got me really thinking of who to give this away to.
Carl Asaba's strike against Coventry was quality as was McGovern's at home to Walsall. Michael Brown scored a free-kick that was better than David Beckham away to Norwich (took 38 seconds to score).
The goal of the month will have to go to Brown's midfield partner Michael Tonge, his solo run ran the Millwall defence ragged and after he had took on five players he Cooley hammered the ball home.
Performance of the month: This award is given to a whole team effort and basically which match was most entertaining for both sets of fans.
The Millwall game was in contention to win this game but it was near a boring game when United should have won by four or five goals instead of winning 3-1.
The award will go to our away victory at Norwich City. United took the lead after only 38 seconds when Michael Brown's World Class free-kick curled into top corner, five minutes later United made it two when Tonge got onto a Onoura header.
Carl Asaba had a sting of chances to make it three to Blades and he did when he converted a penalty after Tonge was brought down by Darren Kenton. Minutes later Iffy Onoura was sent off (his red card was later rescinded).
Very late on Norwich pulled two goals back but was too late to go for a leveler and United won 3-2 at Carrow Road.
The monthly award for October might be made after the Derby County game on 30 October or after the Nottingham Forest game on 2 November (Forest game will not be included in awards).
We decided to put months of August and September together but in future awards only one month will be used.
At the end of the season all the votes will be counted up and a overall awards will be given for Sheffield United.
