Sharp, an actual Blades supporter himself, has seen interest from a host of Championship clubs over the off season. Doncaster Rovers had a derisory bid declined, Leeds have reportedly been in talks and Burnley have now had their attempt to lure the striker to Turf Moor snubbed by Sharp himself. United actually accepted a £1m offer from the Clarets for the 24-year-old's services.
The Sheffielder bagged 15 goals whilst on loan for Doncaster Rovers last season and proved he can cut it in the second tier. It now seems, though, that Sharp is determined to be successful at his boyhood team. Kevin Blackwell said: "Billy's a Blade and has a desire to succeed at this club."
Sharp's decision to stay at S2 does prompt the opportunity for clubs to capture him on a free in Januaray. Kevin Blackwell ended: "I asked Billy to go and prove himself last season and he did that, so credit to him."
