The United Kingdom has been hit with some terrible weather in the last few weeks; this has unfortunately led to postponements galore on the sporting calendar. Most of the games which have been called off recently were because the roads around the ground weren't 'safe', and not the actual playing surface itself. But, United are very confident that Saturday's home tie with Middlesbrough will be on, with the pitch in a playable condition and the footpaths and roads around the ground not dangerous.
Steve Hicks, United's Safety Officer, said: "The Club has put a lot of time and effort and the necessary plans in place to ensure that the weekend's game goes ahead. Salt reserves are still available to combat any adverse weather over the next two days and we will be working hard to make sure that Bramall Lane and the immediate areas are safe for supporters attending the game."
The Blades' Championship match with Watford at Vicarage Road last Saturday was postponed, whereas Tuesday's FA Cup replay went ahead at Queens Park Rangers.
