Ellis who is number two to Blackwell spoke to the media and says their has been a big improvement in the players since leaving Sheffield last week. He gave special praise to Jon Stead who managed to get a brace against Dutch side Helmond Sport.
"In the second half we worked really hard and our fitness showed. It wasn't just our fitness that secured the victory, though, it is more a reflection of our ability," said Big Sam.
"All the lads have worked really hard this week, our fitness is good and there is more to come. It has been a good week, we have had three tough games, won all three and, fortunately, not picked up any major problems.
"The major problem we have at the moment is the Gaffer working out what his best XI is. It was a good team effort, we have a great ethic, but Jon Stead had, by far, his best game since we (Ellis and Blackwell) have been at the club.
"Take out his goals and it was still a good performance from him. Both the strikers worked hard off the ball and you need to do that if you are going to be successful."
The Blades next pre-season game is against Stocksbridge Park Steels at Stocksbridge on Tuesday and Sheffield FC at the Coach and Horses ground on the Thursday. Both games will have a mixed team out.
