Ryan, who was speaking before Doncaster's emphatic 2:1 win over Middlesbrough on Friday night, confessed that he would fully understand if Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll hopped over South Yorkshire to Sheffield United.
No official approach from the Blades has been made yet, says Ryan, but he does envisage one.
Ryan said: "I think Sean will stay put. That's my view.
"I think they've got a bigger stadium and fan-base than us, but we've got a lot better team. "I said to him after the Burnley situation that I'd always be honest with him, and if he wants to speak to other clubs, you can't stop them anyway. "So he'll just have to get on with it. But I've made it clear to him that I think he's got a better prospect here than with Sheffield. Speaking about a potential offer, Ryan continued: "There's definitely one coming. I'm braced for it but I'm very confident we'll keep our man." O'Driscoll led Doncaster to a 2:1 victory against relegation-threatened Middlesbrough at the Keepmoat tonight (Friday) with a 94th-minute winner from Brian Stock, much to the help of the Blades who would have dropped to 20th with a Boro win.
