UPDATE: 17:35GMT:

The club have now confirmed that a press conference will go ahead tomorrow at 1:30pm. A statement on the official site reads:

'The Blades will unveil at least two new signings on Friday afternoon, Kevin Blackwell having now successfully having completed negotiations in both the full transfer and long-term loan markets.

'They will be unveiled at a press conference and reflect significant investment in the United's manager's team-building for next season, following the acquisitions of Lee Williamson, Kyel Reid and Andy Taylor.'

Kevin Blackwell, after the 0:2 pre-season win at Chesterfield said: "We are keen to get players in to freshen things up - we are down on numbers at the moment.

"The statement from the club about the double transfer of the Kyles to Spurs indicated that we would reinvest in the team, and there has been considerable speculation as to the identities of likely targets.

"I've not been prepared to show my hand, it has been a case of wait and see, but we were always going to close incoming deals eventually, even if not as quickly as some people might have hoped."

BBC Radio Sheffield and the PA are reporting that United have confirmed that a press conference at the Shirecliffe Academy will occur tomorrow (Friday) to reveal three new recruits, one likely to be Ched Evans.

Rumour has it that the other two players are trialists Julian Gray and Glen Little but time will tell. Message board poster EIGHTEEN89 did reveal that three will be brought through the doors at S2, and his very reliable source seems to be correct once again.
