Saturday's games threw up a few suprises including the Blades 2:0 thumping over Hull. Here's the overall situation on the play-off run in for 6th spot.
Crystal Palace
Palace beat promotion rivals Watford after a thrilling final few minutes in the latter stages of the game at Selhurst Park. Goals from ex-Blade Paul Ifill and the other from Victor Moses ensured Palace retained their status as the 6th place team.
Wolves/Ipswich
A 1:1 draw meant that Wolves chance of the play-offs were a big blow but Ipswich's was still alive. Tommy Millers last gasp free-kick salvaged a point as he hammered the ball past Wayne Hennessey. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake got the goal for Wanderers on 73 minutes.
Sheffield United
Stephen Quinn's superb volley from 12 yards out and James Beattie's penalty meant the Kevin Blackwell's Blades moved up four places. Chris Morgan got sent off in the 1st half for the Blades but the win means that Kevin Blackwell's future as the Sheffield United gaffer looks more realistic.
Plymouth Argyle
Plymouth's promtion dreams are now over. It looked to be great but until the 92nd minute Richard Chaplow rescued Preston a point. It looked to be a certain that Argyle were to make the play-offs a few weeks back.
Charlton
Athletic's chances of promotion straight back to the promise land was also over. They lost to a Dexter Blackstock goal in the 1st half. Charlton's situation is the same as Plymouth's really, they should be in that top six just as they were a month back.
So that's the round up after an intresting Saturday afternoon. Check the Play-off run in (part 4) on Friday.
