Naysmith, 31, opted to turn down the Blades' offer and chose to agree terms with Lee Clark's Terriers. On the two-year deal at the Galpharm, Clark said: "Gary is a massive signing - we have worked very hard to get him. He has got real experience at the very highest level, but the big thing for me is that from the very first day I met him you can tell he still has unbelievable desire and ambition."
United are now stuck with Andy Taylor and Jordan Stewart at left-back because of Naysmith's departure. The Scot appeared 79 times for the red and white wizards, but last season was short with only two games due to injury.
