The former Barnsley defender kept his second clean sheet in a week with his fellow centre back Ugo Ehiogu being alongside to assist him. And while doing his duties in the backline, Ehiogu smashed the winning goal in from close-range.
The captain said: "That's two clean sheets. Paddy before the game was saying how important they are and obviously defenders and keepers love keeping them and if we can keep clean sheets, it gives us that bit extra chance of winning games.
"The other night we created 30-40 odd chances and didn't end up scoring, but you've got to be careful that you don't go and concede at the other end as well.
"We've earned both of the clean sheets. The other night we were massively on top. The danger in them games is when you've got as much possession as we had and sometimes it's easy to get ball watching and switch off. So it's pleasing that we've earned them because Preston have come at us and finished the game with three or four up front.
"It was a great time to get off the mark for Ugo and I think he said he read it off Webbs' shin. He reacted well and had a couple of bites at it but smashed it into the roof of the net.
"We've another tough game on Tuesday night. I've just been looking at the league table and Bristol are just sitting below us so it's probably going to be another tight affair and another good game."
