Morgan sorry for Chelsea star

Terry slipped on the wet surface at the luzhniki Stadium and proved to be a miss which will haunt him for the rest of his career. Van Der Sar saved Nicholas Anelka's penalty which meant Manchester United took the Champions League trophy back to Old Trafford once again.

Blades skipper Chris Morgan feels sympathetic for the Blues captain. He said:"I don't know if others were willing to take a penalty, but I assume he thought it was a captain's responsibility to take the fifth kick - if I was in his shoes I'd have probably done the same.

"When he was walking up to place the ball I hoped he would just drill it as hard as he could but he slipped at the vital moment. I felt for him, especially when Manchester United went on to win."

Morgan finished commenting on the game as a whole and cup finals: "Before the game there was a fear that they would cancel each other out like they did in the FA Cup Final a couple of years ago, but I was delighted that both sides went for it.

"United were the best side for the first half but Chelsea got a lifeline with their goal and did well in the second half. In extra-time, Chelsea were by far the better side but penalties are just a lottery. It has to be settled but it's cruel when you lose.

"Cup finals are like play-off finals, there is no place for losers, you just want the ground to swallow you up. No-one remembers losers and it was hard to see John Terry in tears at the end."
